Essential to TC Transcontinental Packaging operations, the Electrical Technician is a skilled professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within the extrusion manufacturing environment. Some of the equipment includes: resin handling equipment, extrusion and casting equipment, film stretching equipment, winding and slitting equipment, material handling equipment, scales, micrometers, tachometers, hand tools, and other related equipment. This role involves ensuring the seamless operation of machinery, minimizing downtime, and contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of the facility. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to ensure equipment reliability, safety, and overall operational excellence.

When your actions lead to success.

  • Perform routine maintenance on electrical systems, including inspecting, cleaning, and testing components.

  • Conduct preventative maintenance tasks to prevent disruptions and ensure consistent equipment performance.

  • Install, wire, and connect electrical systems for new equipment, machinery, and production lines.

  • Collaborate with engineers and team members to ensure accurate and compliant installations.

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, identifying faulty components, circuits, and systems.

  • Execute repairs and replacements to restore functionality and minimize downtime.

  • Maintain and calibrate control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and other automation systems.

  • Program, modify, and optimize control parameters to enhance equipment performance.

  • Respond swiftly to electrical equipment breakdowns and malfunctions, implementing rapid solutions to minimize production disruptions.

  • Adhere to electrical safety protocols, guidelines, and lockout/tagout procedures to ensure a safe work environment.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, regulations, and standards.

  • Record maintenance activities, repairs, and electrical modifications accurately in logs and digital systems.

  • Maintain an organized inventory of electrical spare parts, tools, and supplies.

  • Participate in identifying opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement upgrades and technological advancements.

  • Collaborate with fellow technicians, engineers, and production teams to share knowledge and insights.

  • Provide training and guidance to junior electrical technicians as needed.

  • Adapts to flexible start-up schedule, transitioning from 8-hour shifts to continuous 12-hour shifts, when required.

  • Maintains regular, reliable attendance.

  • Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.

When your expertise drives us.

  • Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical technology or related field.

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Technician in a manufacturing or extrusion environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, motors, and control systems.

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical malfunctions and conducting wiring installations.

  • Familiarity with PLCs, HMIs, motor drives, and industrial automation systems.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex electrical issues.

  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration and conveying technical information.

  • Safety-conscious mindset with a deep understanding of electrical safety protocols and regulations.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.

  • Basic computer skills for data entry, maintenance tracking, and communication.

  • Physical capability to perform manual tasks, work in various conditions, and lift heavy objects.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to emergency situations.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.

  • Proficient with the English language.
